Paddy Green Is Coming To Town!

One of our seasonal favorites, Paddy Green, is coming back just in time for February.

Paddy Green is our homage to Irish Cider. Made with 100% Granny Smith Apples, this cider is fairly dry with a tart finish. This one makes your tongue do the Irish Jig. (5.5. ABV).

Paddy Green will be available for purchase in stores starting Friday, February 1st and will be in our tasting rooms starting January 30th.

Don’t forget! We also have our newest Barrel Aged Cider available on tap and in 16oz cans. C.O.G. Smash (8.9% ABV) is here! Our award winning Flower City Blonde aged in Iron Smoke whiskey barrels. New Flavor Alert: Gumdrop Button Gingerbread

Back in time for the holidays, our seasonal flavor Gumdrop Button Gingerbread. This tasty cider has notes of molasses, vanilla, and honey with a butter nut finish. The combination of gingerbread and apples make this a delicious wintertime classic. Our Barrel Aged Series Is Back!

Fresh out of the barrel! Our barrel aged series is back! We have a very limited supply with 64oz and 32oz growler fills available to take home and 12oz pours available to consume on the premises.

This year we are using Iron Smoke Distillery‘s Whiskey Apple barrels. We have created a still, whiskey barrel aged hard cider that will be sure to please. At 8.9%, this cider has oaky notes with a nutty apple finish.

This limited release cider is only available in our Henrietta Tasting Room. Cheers!

Introducing Cinnamon “Toad” Crunch – a play off of your favorite childhood (or adulthood) cereal.

Cinnamon “Toad” Crunch is our take on an American childhood classic, Cinnamon Toast Crunch. We have made this not so childish anymore by taking three different types apples, two different types of cinnamon and one secret ingredient to create a semi-sweet cider with an unforgettable taste. ABV 5.5%

Starting this Thursday, Cinnamon “Toad” Crunch will be available in our Henrietta tasting room. On tap only.

Blue Toad Hard Cider Is Hiring!

Are you or someone you know looking for a change of scenery and want to get involved in the cider biz? We’ve got an opportunity for you! Blue Toad Hard Cider New York is looking for a Head Cider Maker and Production Manager. This position will serve as Head Cider Maker and Production Manger for Blue Toad Hard Cider in both Rochester, New York and Roseland, Virginia. The position will oversee all production of various cider flavors and varieties from the delivery of fresh pressed sweet cider to the packaging of the finished product – keeping up with all aspects of demand. Responsibilities include:
  • Implementation of EKOS Cidermaker Cloud Based Production Management and Tracking software for the entire company
  • Process and procedures created for updating, maintenance, inventory, supplies, etc. for EKOS Cidermaker
  • Report collection and production forecasting based on current and historical data
  • All duties related to fermentation (yeast propagation, monitoring and promoting healthy fermentation)
  • Filtering (using plate and frame as well as DE filtration methods)
  • CIP of all production equipment
  • Packaging (kegging and canning)
  • Record keeping and reporting
Job Requirements:
  • At least one year working in cider, beer or wine production
  • Get it done attitude and constantly looking to improve processes and procedures
  • Attend sales calls and events while speaking knowledgeably about the product
  • Ability to manage employees at times from afar
  • High School diploma
  • Basic computer competency with knowledge of Google Docs, Sheets, Cloud, etc.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between production facilities in Rochester, NY and Roseland, VA
  • Clean and valid driver’s license
  • Can lift at least 50 pouds
  • Flexible scheduling with ability to adjust schedule based on production needs
  • Possess a strong desire to maintain a sanitary facility
  • Deadline and goal driven
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to problem-solve

The Arnold Palmer of the Hard Cider world, Toadally Tea is now available in 16oz cans. Toadally Tea is a blend of three apples creating a light and refreshing beverage combine with tea leaves that provides a refreshing and smooth hard cider.

Paddy Green Cider Wins GOLD!

Our Paddy Green Hard Cider is a gold medalist! The Irish-inspired cider took the gold medal at the 2018 Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition (GLINTCAPS). The GLINTCAPS are one of the largest competitions of its kind in the United States. It takes place each May in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Paddy Green ranked in the top six percent of all 1500 ciders entered into the competition. The gold medal was in the modern dry category. We know our fans love this cider, and now the judges have spoken, too! Paddy Green is a winner all around. Paddy Green is made of 100% Granny Smith apples grown in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central, Virginia. In fact, the local orchard, Silver Creek & Seaman Orchard is just a few miles up the road from our cidery where the cider is made. Doesn’t get much more local than that. Paddy Green is a fairly dry cider with a tart finish and has an ABV of 5.5%. You can now purchase Paddy Green in cans! Enjoy!

New Barrel Aged Flavor: CranApple Rye

Our Cider Makers have done it again. This time, Blue Toad Hard Cider partnered with Silverback Distillery, another local Nelson County business, to create an aged cider that is sure to make you lips pucker in delight.

CranApple Rye is our newest barrel aged cider. Using Silverback Distillery’s Award Winning Blackback Rye Barrels, we started by barrel-aging Blue Toad Hard Cider’s Award Winning Blue Ridge Blonde for 100 days. We blended the cider with cranberries, and CranApple Rye was born.

CranApple Rye has a great nose combined with a tartness from the cranberries. The apple flavor comes in on the front and ends with a smooth rye finish. This cider is a limited release and will be available in the Blue Toad Hard Cider Nelson County tasting rooms until the barrels are tapped.

Blue Toad’s Barrel Aged Series started in 2017. Last year, Blue Toad Hard Cider partnered with Silverback Distillery to create two other barrel-aged flavors,ROCBack Rye and Peach Apple Rye. Blue Toad also partnered with Honeoye Falls Distillery in New York to make Cherry Apple Bourbon, a huge hit. By using the same barrels that these distilleries use to age their spirits, we are reducing waste and creating innovative and tasty new ciders for you to enjoy.
